Dog days in Athens

So instead, we amused ourselves by taking pictures of the stray Athens dogs that Jubie had heard much about, saying that during the Olympics the organizers were worried that people would find them menacing- we found them to be lazy and calm, and EVERYWHERE! We hear that before the Olympic Games in Greece, the Greeks gathered these “street animals”, collared, tagged and spayed them hoping they might seem a bit less dangerous to visitors. Much of the day we spent observing and enjoying Greek facial features. The faces and profiles of these native Greeks look so similar to the statues and carvings we have grown up seeing in books, movies and museums. Jubie thinks they are among the most fascinating features she has yet observed in her travels.
