From McDonalds to a Posh Lugano Hotel

The next day we walked into Lugano, where we noticed that people look much more Italian than the northern regions and most even spoke Italian. We noticed that spring was just beginning to burst forth as we ambled along the colorful waterfront and the tidy streets. We stopped for coffee, slightly ashamed of ourselves, at the local McDonald’s, which is nothing like our American version. This McDonald’s is housed in one of the fanciest buildings in downtown Lugano and it boasts cathedral ceilings, crystal chandeliers, and even urinals that are action sensitive and provide the patron with advertisements while relieving themselves! Imagine! We walked into several very very old cathedrals on the piazzas and marveled at the artwork that we saw. We bumbled around trying to figure out the bus system, without the best of luck, and finally found our way home. That evening we joined more of Zak’s friends for drinks at a very posh hotel high on the hills of Lugano. Mary strummed the water harp, which was an art installation on the grounds and managed to take some photos of the breath taking views as the sun set.
