Home at Puri Asri

We found our way to Puri Asri, the hotel we would be staying. Located in a quiet neighborhood (looks nothing like any neighborhood in America) amid the rice patties, Puri Asri welcomed us with watermelon welcome drinks. The open-air reception/dining room is beautiful to behold. It turns out some of the staff (and their families) are talented wood carvers. We met an Alaskan businessman, Walter, who deals in hand-carved wood furniture, and ships from Puri Asri. We were there one day watching 48 large boxes being transported by petite Indonesian men (always with huge smiles). In all the years Walter has worked with the Balinese, he says they have conducted blessing ceremonies for each shipment, and to this date all shipments arrive safely and timely without issue.
