Yikes! Mosquitoes!

We spent the night in a typical budget Venetian hotel, the double room was large and had it’s bathroom and balcony, whereas the single room (heads up to you single travelers, those doubles get a much better break) was a tiny, dark, stark room with little to offer but two narrow beds. To make matters even worse, it seems that all over Europe people do not use screens on their windows, therefore we found ourselves swatting mosquitoes all night long. In the morning the walls in Jubie’s room looked somewhat like a murder crime scene site with splatters of blood and dead mosquitoes all over. Needless to say, it was not a restful night. At breakfast the next morning, Jubie reached over and loudly swatted a huge mosquito on the wall next to her. The entire room stopped, paused, and then looked knowingly as they all nodded with compassion and understanding.
